5 First date ideas that take the pressure off

You don’t have to go for a romantic meal the first time you meet. Here’s my top 5 first date ideas that take the pressure off.

When it comes to a first date, you’ll either be like an excited puppy or more likely, you’ll have sweaty palms, a churning stomach and your heart will feel as though it’s pumping 100 miles an hour.

There’s a lot of pressure on a first date. What will you talk about? Can you eat spaghetti? What should you wear?

You know what? You don’t have to go for a romantic meal the first time you meet. There’s a lot of pressure on first dates so surely, it would make sense to do something that will help you both relax a little.

So, for those who like to think outside the box, here’s my top 5 first date ideas that take the pressure off.

So... 5 first date ideas for you 🙂

1 – Salsa classes

Now, if you’re anything like me and have two left feet, this will initially feel like a disaster in the making but guess what? Your match feels the same way too.

First dates should be fun, and I guarantee, the worse you are at dancing, the more fun this will be.

It will give you something to laugh about, talk about and squirm about in equal measure. Just make sure that if you do choose this option, you’re not meeting up with Strictly’s next contestant because that would just be embarrassing!

2 – Go to a theme park

If you’re looking for something with no pressure, then this option is for you. Unless of course, you hate heights, thrill seeking and generally have an adrenaline aversion in which case, this is probably one to avoid.

A theme park gives you the opportunity to have fun, feel excited, share childhood stories and of course, hold hands when the nerves kick in!

3 – Go bowling

This is a great option for the less adventurous and will open opportunities for food and drinks after the game.

It’s fun, you can leave your heels at home, you don’t need to get dressed up and above all, you’ll discover early on how competitive they are.

There’s time for chat but when that awkward silence comes in, you simply take your next shot.

By the time the game is over, and you head to the bar, you would have gotten to know each other a little better without even realising it.

4 – Take a ghost tour

Not for the faint hearted but hey, a great opportunity to get close and snuggle in. A ghost tour can kick off the adrenaline juices and can show a lot about personalities.

If you are a little scared and they show no empathy, then they’re probably not a keeper.

On the other hand, if they laugh at you but give you a hug when you need it, you know they have a great sense of humour but understand when to reign it in.

5 – Take a cookery class

This is a great first date idea. Not only is there less pressure, but it will also give you something to talk about at the end, you will get to know their cooking skills and who knows, maybe you’ll be sharing that string of spaghetti by the end of it.

There’s something romantic about a cooking class but not in the traditional sense so you can be yourself, you won’t have to make small talk and you can enjoy your creations later on.

First dates don’t have to be awkward. Start your relationship off on the right foot and choose to be different.

Find something that will either make you both feel comfortable or actually very uncomfortable and it will give you hours of fun, chat and above all, a relaxed first date experience.
