When it comes to online dating, there are two types of people:
- The carefree, just go with it and see what happens
- I need to stand out and get noticed
Both of these are going to have a great time, but I am specifically talking to those who want to stand out and get noticed when they are online dating.
With so many of us now embracing this world, it’s harder to create an online profile that not only stands out but also attracts the right attention.
I thought I would share a few tips to creating a killer online dating profile with you.
It’s all in the eyes
You can tell a lot about someone by their eyes. And it’s people’s eyes that show trust. So, when choosing the photo you’re going to use as your main dating profile pic, make sure your eyes are smiling.
Make sure your photos are recent
Way too many times I’ve seen people using photos on their dating profile that are 10+ years old. This is a HUGE no no people!
If you’re not using fairly recent photos of yourself, you’re not portraying the real and current you.
I’ve turned up on dates with guys before who didn’t look like their profile photo.
Please do the decent thing and update your photos before embarking on your online dating journey – you’ll thank me in the long run!
Smile and the world smiles with you
Do you think it’s important to smile in your photos? I do.
Smiling is contagious. And if you walk down the street smile at whoever you walk by. Even say hello. You never know, it might just make their day, and then they’ll smile at the next person they walk by.
During your dating photo shoot I capture loads of different facial expressions so that you lots of options to choose from when making the final cut for your online dating profile.
You can’t quite beat a smile though.
I was taking photos of a woman the other day and she said the word “sausages”. As funny as it sounds, it really does make for a lovely smile!
Don’t waffle
Do you know what to say in your dating profile? It can be tricky.
We’ve all been guilty of going on a bit on a first date, maybe due to nerves.
But in your written online dating profile, you have a great opportunity to sell yourself in just a few paragraphs.
The likes of @tinder_uk only allow 500 characters so you kind of have to be short and sweet.
I can waffle like the rest of them (I’m doing it now), but when it comes to marketing, which is essentially what online dating is, you need to keep your dating profile to a minimum.
Make sure there are still things to talk to people about when you meet.
Sack off the selfie
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again (and again, and again, and again!) Please, please, please stop using bad selfies on your dating profile! Especially ones taken in the bathroom – it’s not a good look!
⠀
Your photos are meant to grab someone’s attention and show the real you.
⠀
When it comes to selfies, unless you’re really good at taking them, it’s likely that you’ll whack your facial features out of proportion. As an example, your nose can look larger than it is in real life (or in a well taken photo).
⠀
You also manipulate your face in a way that isn’t accurate!
Get serious about your online dating profile
It’s a new world out there people and if you’re serious about online dating then get serious about your profile. Hire that professional to help you. Then when you get a hit, you’ll know it’s from the right type of person!
Good luck and happy dating!
